[jira] Created: (CASSANDRA-257) Eliminate thrift warnings

Eliminate thrift warnings
--------------------------

                 Key: CASSANDRA-257
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CASSANDRA-257
             Project: Cassandra
          Issue Type: Improvement
    Affects Versions: 0.3
            Reporter: Sandeep Tata
            Priority: Trivial
             Fix For: 0.3
         Attachments: warn.patch

Running "thrift --gen py cassandra.thrift" produces a bunch of warnings.
These go away when there's a field key for the params in the interface definitions.
This is fixed in trunk, but seems to have escaped 0.3.

Should this get scrapped, given the pending release of 0.4?

Jonathan Ellis commented on CASSANDRA-257:
------------------------------------------

In my mind the whole reason we are doing 0.3 is to have a stable branch where we don't go tweaking minor things. We can fix showstopper bugs but for the most part it's all about stability.

Since there's going to be no 0.3.x, I'd say close this.

Sandeep Tata commented on CASSANDRA-257:

Sure, I'd have assigned it to a 0.3.1 if we had one of those.
Just figured it'd cause extra thrift grief to see a bunch of warnings for someone new who wanted to use a python thrift client instead of using the CLI.

Eric Evans commented on CASSANDRA-257:
--------------------------------------

The cost to benefit ratio seems really bad, please don't delay the release of 0.3.0 for this. Let's put the time into 0.4.0 instead.

Short live 0.3!
