dbm auth and groups help

I've been tinkering with dbm auth. (very nice BTW).

How come,

require group author admin

fails to authorise someone in group "admin"?  (fail on group)

I can only get apache to accept the first group name in a .htaccess
file.


If I have the syntax wrong it seem very unituitive.
