After a day weaving through different web sites I got Tomcat to work my Win
95/PWS machine.

I was having the same error that other developers documented which was the
"Error 500" when
launching any of the JSP examples followed by a NoClasDefFoundError when trying
to compile
the jsp.

 I didn't see anywhere that I needed JDK 1.3 and I was  was running Tomcat with
1.2.2. After
I downloaded 1.3 and changed the environment variables to point to that release,
everything ran fine.
