Excalibur i18n vs. Avalon Util i18n

Hi,

what's the purpose of duplicating the i18n code from excalibur,
repackaging it and putting it in Avalon Util?
Imho this creates too much confusion and duplicated code and
by the end noone knows what package is the current one.

Right.

util/i18n at the moment is not an API, as in "stable". Deprecation should not
follow until the API is stable, and can be announced out as the replacement
for the deprecation.

excalibur-logger is a bit of 'too big' for me... IIUC, avalon/logging IS
replacing excalibur-logger. So we would be talking about the official
deprecation and all of that, right?

Ok, so the plan is to first move/copy the package and then perhaps
change it to reflect merlin's needs, right? I understand.
What do you think of deprecating the excalibur version. It's not
maintained anyway and gives the users a clear statement.

The purpose is for you not to notice :o)

Seriously, I want to rip away Merlin from being dependent on excalibur-xxx, to
allow extensions of these without to worry about what else may or may not
break with it. For instance, why is there a Security check for clearing the
cache, but nothing else? Why is there all these half-meaningless getDouble(),
yet no support for important stuff like images and sound?

Expect the same fate for excalibur-configuration.

Cheers
Niclas
