Of course I may just be a complete idiot, but have you considered 
calling super.prepareForRender() at the beginning of your 
prepareForRender method in your page class?

I did not overwrite the method prepareForRender.
It is just a simple BasePage which has a ForEach element in his HTML file
where an exception can occur while getting the list to iterate over.
