[jira] [Commented] (BIGTOP-2666) Merge ODPi upstream contributions back to Bigtop

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/BIGTOP-2666?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=15886408#comment-15886408 ]

Roman Shaposhnik commented on BIGTOP-2666:
------------------------------------------

Ok, so I finally managed to put a branch in: https://github.com/apache/bigtop/compare/BIGTOP-2666 (make sure to click on "Files Changed" tab and then on "234 changed files"). This will show you the delta in files. As you can see it is basically spilt into the following bulky parts:
   # Definition of the Ambari ODPi stack
   # Packaging for Ambari
   # Additional tests

I am planning to move #1 to Apache Ambari AMBARI-19429) #2 will be contributed to BIGTOP-1406 and as for the tests -- I'd really appreciate help in trying to figure out what to do with them.

Any takers?

> ODPi reference implementation and validation testsuite are all based on Bigtop. For the past two releases we haven't had a chance to push what makes sense back to the Bigtop community. I propose that we do that now. A rough outline of the changes can be seen here:
> https://github.com/odpi/bigtop/compare/master...odpi:odpi-master
> Now, I'm not suggesting that we need to merge it as-is, but rather consider it to be a branch. In fact, I think it would be super useful to actually have it as a branch in Bigtop's repo and keep refactoring until we feel it is a good fit.
