Stumble Upon's Async library, the Deferred object

I was just reading over this api.  And thought it was worth sharing 
here, to maybe spark interesting ideas and thoughts when you guys design 
MINA pipeline apis.  I'm not saying one is better than the other, just 
that it seemed worthy of cross-pollination; here's hoping to spark some 
cool ideas.  hooray for synergistic evolution. :)
