JDO 3.1 status?

I am new to JDO and wonder what is JDO 3.1 in relation to JSR 243 or
another.  Is JDO 3.1 an independent enhancement to JDO 3.0?

JDO 3.1 is the next maintenance release of JSR 243, so it is the
sucessor of JDO 3.0.
