If you didn't see an announcement it's not done.

on the download page.

Any news on Maven Ant Tasks?
What can I do to help release 2.0.6?

Nice, thanks.

I'm doing some Ant (well, a conversion) so I'll take a look as soon
as I can.

Thanks,

Re: [VOTE] Release Maven Ant Tasks 2.0.6

ok, I found why I had "Embedded error: duplicate entry:": when I add wagon-ssh
as a dependency, I get plexus:plexus-utils as a transitive dependency, which
conflicts with org.codehaus.plexus:plexus-utils.
Adding <exclude>plexus:plexus-utils</exclude> solved my problem.

Then, here are the figures (1.0-beta-2):
- wagon-ssh: +169K
- wagon-ftp: +255K
- wagon-webdav: +593K
Including wagon-ssh in Maven Ant Tasks seems to be a good idea.
But don't forget the exclude thing...

Then it would be nice to:
- close MANTTASKS-19: the reporter says it is ok
- close MANTTASKS-7: it is fixed in 2.0.6
- close MANTTASKS-43: it is not a Maven bug
- commit MANTTASKS-66 patch: not complicated but really usefull
- commit MANTTASKS-15 patch? usefull too
- look at MANTTASKS-6 patch: this seems a good addition to me

I have other patches waiting on other jira issues, but I'm starting with the
easiest ones...

ok, why not.

I tried to get how many KB each provider would add, to have figures
for "doesn't take much".
But I couldn't: I get an error, either with trunk and 2.0.x branch:
[INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------
[ERROR] BUILD ERROR
[INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------
[INFO] Error creating shaded jar.

Embedded error: duplicate entry:
hidden/org/codehaus/plexus/util/xml/PrettyPrintXMLWriter.class

Do you know what's happening? I would have thought that this was the purpose
of the shade version lockdown on 2.0.x branch, but that doesn't seem to work.

BTW, the current staged Maven Ant Tasks are a lot better than the actually
published 2.0.4 (which are quite buggy): I really think the better is to go
with them, and only after that work on enhancements for 2.0.7. Maven 2.0.5
was released on 14/2 and 2.0.6 on 1/4: having a release for Ant Tasks is long
awaited.

you mean:
<artifact:install-provider artifactId="wagon-ssh" version="1.0-beta-2"/>
is not sufficient?

Yup, I guess I just wanted to see if anyone thought it wise to
include the libraries necessary for SSH deployment. Currently you
could not deploy via SSH without adding some goop to your classpath.

Do people use the SSH deployment frequently? The documentation says
SSH deployment is supported but the 2.0.4-based tasks don't contain
any of the requirements for that.

Jason, you were talking to the Tomcat folks and I assume they will
need the SSH goodies to deploy so I can put the requirements in the
uber JAR and then scramble them so they don't interfere
with anything else.

I think this might be a good idea to include at least the SSH
provider as well.

Thanks,

Jason.

Patch applied. I and I staged the Ant Tasks to the same place and
they look fine now. Running the build with the release plugin didn't
include dependencies listed as runtime. So I'll track that down but
for now they should work.

I'm certain your French is better then my English (though I could
speak French 20 years ago -- I am Canadian :-)).

Merci!

great. I don't see how I can help on code for the moment: tell me if I can do

I'll work on documentation enhancement, to reflect new features on

It work fine on its own, it's when it's built with the release plugin
it doesn't work. I knew this but forgot to check as to why. It run to
the integration-test phase but something is causing a problem with
the build is done by the release plugin. Probably something simple.
I'll track it down in the morning.

The build is fine and the jar is produced correctly. It's the release
plugin causing the problem.

We'll sort it out.

No, there is a problem with them :(

I'll be more precise : file
http://people.apache.org/~jvanzyl/staging-repository/maven-ant-tasks-2.0.6/org/apache/maven/maven-ant-tasks/2.0.6/maven-ant-tasks-2.0.6.jar
with date "21-Apr-2007 13:06" and size "917K"
It has the problem mentioned in MANTTASKS-64: it does not contain
o.a.m.wagon.providers.

I tried to generate myself the jar on trunk, 2.0.x branch and 2.0.6 tag: each
time I got a good jar, size 931K, containing file and http lightweight
providers. I'm running Maven 2.0.6 on Linux with no custom component AFAIK.

Can you check your compile environment and try a new build?

Thanks to you: there are a lot of small patches ready for 2.0.7, but this
2.0.6 step is harder to achieve than expected.

I worked on MANTTASKS-64 and found the cause of the uberjar being larger than
the previous one: it was just a typo in excludes list, I attached a patch

But I could not find any problem with the lightweight http wagon: AFAIK the
new tasks work well.

The release process seems blocked on this. What can I do to help release Maven
Ant Tasks 2.0.6?

Is it that it has the api and not the http one? That's what I'm seeing.

I do. Myself, John T, and John C.

I can't see the problem right off as I have the build previous the
stage, and what I just built now and they container all the wagon
stuff. I will hunt it down tomorrow.

I left to others to check and there are no tests and the sample is
hardwired to the version being tested so it is rather brittle and I
didn't improve anything there so I got caught out. In the tag it
makes the uber jar fine so not sure what happened during the release.
I'll track it down. Worked before and does now, so during the process

The uberjar does not work equivalently to the last release, as it
does not contain the lightweight http wagon. I've filed this as
MANTTASKS-64. I also noticed that the uberjar is larger than the
previous one, despite omitting some things - I wonder if something
was unnecessarily included?

Also, I think the documentation needs to be updated to reflect the
new packaging (file rename, and the two options available).

Finally, not a blocker, but I think since ant 1.7 is the current
release the tasks should work with it. This is already filed as
MANTTASKS-44.
