I can't reproduce this issue anymore, neither on the beta release nor on datalake_64_1. Looks like this got fixed already. Will close the bug if I don't see it in the near future. Wei-Shiun, have you seen this recently?

Wei-Shiun also verified that it works now. It got fixed, but we don't know exactly when and by whom.

> When running update statistics on 3 tables consecutively, it often returns transaction error 8841 on the 2nd or the 3rd table, as shown in the following example. This is seen on the beta build 20140108-v36687 running on a workstation.
> >>create table t1 (a int);
> --- SQL operation complete.
> >>insert into table t1 values (1);
> --- 1 row(s) inserted.
> >>update statistics for table t1 on every column;
> --- SQL operation complete.
> >>create table t2 (a int);
> --- SQL operation complete.
> >>insert into table t2 values (1);
> --- 1 row(s) inserted.
> >>update statistics for table t2 on every column;
> --- SQL operation complete.
> >>create table t3 (a int);
> --- SQL operation complete.
> >>insert into table t3 values (1);
> --- 1 row(s) inserted.
> >>update statistics for table t3 on every column;
> *** ERROR[8841] User application committed or aborted a transaction started by SQL. This transaction needs to be committed or aborted by calling SQL COMMIT or ROLLBACK WORK.
> --- SQL operation failed with errors.
