   I'm not sure that this will fix it -- when the `cat` process finishes the output buffer will be flushed. So if we're getting partial output it means we aren't waiting for the cat process to finish, or not reading the stream to completion.
   
   I don't think disabling buffering on cat will ultimately fix it?
