use mvn to compile and then python (v3) to preview in a web browser ...

Publishing requires checking out the isis-site.git repo, and running publish.sh. (Details at [http://isis.apache.org/guides/cgcom/cgcom.html#_cgcom_asciidoc-publish-procedure] )
 
For actually authoring docs, there's also [http://isis.apache.org/guides/dg/dg.html#_dg_asciidoc-syntax] and [http://isis.apache.org/guides/dg/dg.html#_dg_asciidoc-templates] .
