Linux I know uses bash .  BSD/OS and a few other systems uses classic /bin/sh
and not bash-ish .

You may want start with

#!/bin/bash

and 

need to set ulimit -u N where N is large enough .

Ortherwise you better look at delinuxifying the scripts.
