Namespace problem due to type derivation

Folks,

We are stumbling on a namespace problem due to type derivation, which
has already been discussed on this list about one year ago. The
situation is described here:

Did the situation evolve since July last year, or is Radu's proposed
workaround still the only way to deal with the problem?
