JCR RMI access two ways?

Hello,

I am using jackrabbit2.0.0 and wanting to have only one single server
running the repository service connected from multiple JCR clients.

My questions are:

1. What is the difference and how to choose between standalone
server RMI
(http://jackrabbit.apache.org/standalone-server.html#StandaloneServer-RM
Iaccess) and JCR RMI
(http://jackrabbit.apache.org/jackrabbit-jcr-rmi.html)?

2. In either case, should the RMI client have a homeDir and a xml
configuration file?

Thanks in advance!

Xuetao

Already answered.

No, it is just a client.

BTW . . . it seems that the RMI method of exposing a repository as a
remote server is not really for production. The recommended way seems
to be the WEBDAV remoting alternative, which uses WEBDAV not as a
direct interface, but as a remoting network layer.

This page is particularly useful.

The standalone server exposes a repository via RMI. The jcr-rmi
package is the client side of the equation, for connecting to the
repository exposed via RMI by the server.
