Sure,  can be done.

Please request the new mailing list using the usual form; then once created - 

edit: https://svn.apache.org/repos/infra/infrastructure/buildbot/aegis/buildmaster/master1/projects/cms.conf 

adding the new mailing list as a commitlist entry to your commons line.

Consider please using the 'notifications@' name as this is already pre-configured in our scripts to be like issues@
