[this is not a vote]

- verified that MNG-5797 is fixed (WAGON-432)
- all Tycho ITs are passing using staged maven 3.3.3

looks good to me.

Thanks

I've pushed the binaries to central, the binaries are moving up to the Apache mirrors, I've update the main site and I have the announcement prepared. If someone can publish the reference site I'd appreciate it.

So I will roll out 3.3.3 in the morning (eastern time).

Then I will integrate the staged version of Sisu, do a few more fixes and release 3.3.4.

I never use remote debugging (because the tools in m2eclipse are so good) but looking at the scripts Stuart's analysis is right. So I can make an issue and just use the text of his analysis. I'll try to get the fix in for the 3.3.4 release.

Mark,

If this is what's happening make a JIRA and mark it for 3.3.4 and we'll get it in there. Seems easy enough to fix. Stuart, thanks for the analysis.

AFAICT the underlying issue is that the MAVEN_OPTS setting can be reset when the mvn script sources .mavenrc

Before 3.3.x the mvnDebug script was a tweaked copy of mvn so this didn’t make any difference to debugging as MAVEN_DEBUG_OPTS was still referenced in the final command.

For 3.3.x onwards the mvnDebug script sets MAVEN_OPTS to “$MAVEN_OPTS $MAVEN_DEBUG_OPTS” and then invokes the mvn script... which means that if MAVEN_OPTS is subsequently reset by .mavenrc in the mvn script then the debug settings are lost. You can recreate this by simply adding MAVEN_OPTS=“-showversion” to your .mavenrc

One fix could be to source /etc/mavenrc and .mavenrc early on in mvnDebug (as done in the mvn script) and then set MAVEN_SKIP_RC=1 when invoking mvn with the combined MAVEN_OPT setting. This should stop it getting reset in the mvn script and allow the debug settings to pass through.

The problem I have with mvnDebug on OSX cmd line seems to be there in older 3.3.x versions already. So 3.3.3 is at least better than 3.3.2. We should really fix this in the next version. But otherwise the release looks good.

Re: [VOTE] Maven 3.3.3 Release

Posted by Mark Struberg <st...@yahoo.de>.
Same result with 3.3.1. Latest working maven I have locally is 3.2.1:

~/tmp/delete/CDI-Sandbox/converter$>/opt/apache/apache-maven-3.2.1/bin/mvnDebug clean test -Powb-1.5 -Dtest=ConvertTest
Preparing to Execute Maven in Debug Mode
Listening for transport dt_socket at address: 8000

Now the same in 3.3.1:

~/tmp/delete/CDI-Sandbox/converter$>/opt/apache/apache-maven-3.3.1/bin/mvnDebug clean test -Powb-1.5 -Dtest=ConvertTest
Preparing to Execute Maven in Debug Mode

Re: [VOTE] Maven 3.3.3 Release

Posted by Jason van Zyl <ja...@takari.io>.
If you can an issue in JIRA and try with 3.3.1 and it fails then we'll know where it started. That's likely it as that's where we changed the scripts.

I'm using your exact MAVEN_OPTS and it's working here to startup and debug in Eclipse.

Re-tested with 3.3.2 and it doesn’t work there neither on my box. 3.0.5 and 3.1.1 work fine

not sure if this has an impact, but I have the following in my /etc/mavenrc:
export MAVEN_OPTS="-Xms128m -Xmx512m -XX:MaxPermSize=196m -client"

Using OS X 10.10.3 with java7 and 8.

Working fine here. The scripts haven't changed since the end of February.

Anyone else confirm an issue with remote debugging?
