[jira] [Created] (MAHOUT-665) Do we need org.apache.mahout.common.cache?

Do we need org.apache.mahout.common.cache?
------------------------------------------

                 Key: MAHOUT-665
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MAHOUT-665
             Project: Mahout
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: Frequent Itemset/Association Rule Mining
    Affects Versions: 0.4
            Reporter: Sean Owen
            Assignee: Sean Owen
            Priority: Minor
             Fix For: 0.5

org.apache.mahout.common.cache is unused except for in org.apache.mahout.fpm.pfpgrowth.fpgrowth.FPTreeDepthCache. It in turn could be replaced with a simple Map, if the requirement to cache only the smallest 5 attributes is relaxed. Is this assumption needed?
