use of status as a token

Can I use the status value of a module as a token?
The "Main Concepts" page is vague on the issue. while it doesn't explicitly
say it can be used, it does say:

since 1.4 Extra attributes can be used as any other token in the patterns.
=============================
at the bottom of the "patterns" section. Does this mean I can use [status]
as a valid token?
