> Add --long startup option that uses a startup progress output format that is suitable for redirection to a file
> ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
>
> Key: GERONIMO-1268
> URL: http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/GERONIMO-1268
> Project: Geronimo
> Type: Improvement
> Components: startup/shutdown
> Versions: 1.0-M4, 1.0-M5, 1.0
> Reporter: John Sisson
> Assignee: John Sisson
> Fix For: 1.0
>
> The default startup progress output shows the progress of loading and starting configurations using a text based progress bar and the use of line feeds to update the progress display, therefore minimizing the number of lines output to the terminal.
> The line feeds cause problems when the output is redirected to a file. Another startup progress format is needed for when Geronimo is started in an IDE or as a background process with output redirected.
