release plugin + scm:svn

I am upgrading our project from 1.0.2 to 2 and also integrating it with
our subversion repository.  I am trying to get the release plugin to
work.  Our subversion repo is hosted through Apache2 with authentication
passed through to our active directory server.
 
When I run the release:prepare goal I get an authorization failed error.
I tried adding the username and password into my pom.xml file and I
still get the error.  I checked using the command line and my username
and password is being cached by subversion.
 
Any ideas?

Try mvn -Dusername=your_login -Dpassword=your_password release:prepare
