newbie build/debug question

greetings - I am embarking down the hive path, trying to build a simple SerDe 
based on the example in

org.apache.hadoop.hive.serde2.binarysortable.

So, I checked out the code, did "ant -Djavac.debug=on package" , got a nice 
build/dist area, but when I try to run hive, I get much foo:
