We currently use a _very_ old version of the maven-checkstyle-plugin, which is not maven3 compatible [1].
Maybe there are other problems too, but we should be able to build myfaces with maven3.
I'll fix the checkstyle rules (have done this for OpenWebBeans already, so I know what to change).
We then need to release the whole build chain:

* myfaces-build-tools
* myfaces-master-pom
...
