   @sdedic Does #4936 generally remove the requirement that certain Gradle projects require NB to run on specific JDK? Perhaps not a total fix; but IIUC with the PR in place there is at least light at the end of the tunnel, an adaptor for `gradle <old-version>` could be built.
   
   I'm thinking in particular of the `gradle 6.8.x` projects I have that require NB to run on JDK-11 (or at least JDK-15 or less). With #4936 in place, if it doesn't work out of the box, I could work-on/contribute an adaptor; is that correct?
   
   It's not obvious to me if I can register and adaptor, maybe a service provider, or if something needs to be compiled into NB. But I haven't looked at the PR in detail to figure out where the adapters come from.
