[Bug 64482] New: Date header is unreliable; option to use other
dates instead
https://bz.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=64482
Bug ID: 64482
Summary: Date header is unreliable; option to use other dates
instead
Product: Apache httpd-2
Version: 2.5-HEAD
Hardware: PC
OS: All
Status: NEW
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: mod_mbox
Assignee: bugs@httpd.apache.org
Reporter: sebb@apache.org
Target Milestone: ---
The Date: header in emails is often unreliable as an indicator of when the
message was received by a mailing list.
If the message was moderated, the date could be several days earlier than the
appearance on the list. Also early emails may have wildly inaccurate dates.
It would be useful to be able to use a more accurate date.
For example, the Received: headers or the From_ line.
