[Announce] Apache POI 3.0.2 BETA1

Hi All,

The POI developers are pleased to announce the release of Apache POI
3.0.2 BETA1 which is one of the final steps before the 3.0.2 FINAL.

Apache POI is well-known in the Java field as a library for reading and
writing OLE2 office file formats, such as Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and
Word.

The release contains a mixture of new features and bug fixes, compared to 3.0.1.
A full list of changes is available in the change log:
http://poi.apache.org/changes.html

The source and binaries can be downloaded from your local mirror:
http://www.apache.org/dyn/closer.cgi/poi/dev/

The release is also available from the central Maven repository under Group ID "org.apache.poi".

For the Apache POI Team

Done. The "good" spreadsheet is one column narrower than the "bad" one.
The build script demonstrates the exception.

I understand. I'm working on a complete Ant-based test case, with both
a good and bad xls.

The developers are very busy people. When selecting which bug to
solve in a spare hour or two, they naturally choose one where they
perceive likely success. If this is very critical to you, then please
take the time to provide the your simple examples.

I'll try to get back to the test case and generate one, but it's pretty
simple to do that. It just requires removing columns from the "bad"
spreadsheet one by one until it doesn't happen anymore. My test case
starts reading at the first column and it fails when it hits some sort
of width threshold, around 60 columns.

Is this bug 42464? If so, can you sort us out with the two spreadsheets we
need to be able to narrow down the cause of the problem?

Can you create a bug in Bugzilla and upload a test file into it?

For quite a while, I've been somewhat handicapped by an issue that
prevents me from using spreadsheets that are wider than approximately 60
columns. I get the following error:

"Coding Error: Expected ExpPtg to be converted from Shared to Non-Shared
Formula"

I looked through the expected changes in 3.0.2, but I didn't see this
obviously referenced. Is this issue not addressed yet?
