save and retrieve image from the database

Hi all,

     Can anybody tell me how (or point me to an example) to send and
retrieve image from database ?

in ofbiz the image content is reference by a Datasource but not as a DB, 
but as a file. or itis reference directly from a folder in the paths 
defined by the web.xml
