DeploymentDescriptor

I would like to expand the information in the deployment descriptor and add
a few things that we would like to store there for use by our services.  Is
there a DTD available for this somewhere on the apache site?  I did a search
and came up with nothing.  If there is no formal DTD can I just modify the
DeploymentDescriptor.java file and have it deal with my new additions?
