Missing tags: 1.3.0-rc1, 1.3.0-rc2
David, could you please retroactively create the tags for 1.3.0-rc1
and 1.3.0-rc2 (per step 12 of releases.txt) ?

I did my normal release testing for the tarball, but I got errors
during testing ra_svn, which are probably related to my test setup,
and then I got sidetracked and couldn't dig out what was causing those
errors. If you like I can take a look in to this later this evening.

Apologies, I thought that the tagging was done once the commiter
signatures were all provided and the rc was made public. As rc1 was
scrapped before getting there, I didn't tag. Is this still the
consensus, or should I tag as soon as stuff is released to the dev list?
While we're on the subject, I'm still missing signatures for the rc2
tarballs. Specifically, I have the following signatures, which I've
verified:
- 2 6-way validations on the unix nodeps *balls (lundblad, cmpilato)
- 2 6-way validations on the full unix *balls (lundblad, kfogel)
If my own signatures as release manager count, I have the fulldeps
tarball tested, but only with the file/fsfs combination. If a third full
signature is needed, I can try to get some heavier tests running, er, a
little later.

I seem to remember a similar problem with 1.2.2, and, indeed, there is
no 1.2.2 tag in the repository.
Again, there probably should be.

And it now really is. 1.3.0-rc[12] tagged in the repository. Sorry for
the confusion.

I have no problem with either approach. I just know this has been
discussed to death and the "decision" has always been that a tag is only
created if a release is official and not until it is official.
I would be happy to find additional mailing list threads on the topic.
If you read just that last thread I sent, you will see there were some
fairly strong opinions expressed on both sides of the issue.

Releases.txt also has two step 12's. Can we reaaaaally trust that
file? ;-)

This seems to come up every time a release is done. Here is just one
example:
http://subversion.tigris.org/servlets/BrowseList?listName=dev&from=309047&to=309047&count=38&by=thread&paged=false
Also releases.txt implies that the tag is not made until the tarball is
officially released.

Why ever not? The tag is a permanent record of what was in that
tarball, information that is both useful to have and not dependent on
the entire set of conditions that must be met for a tarball to be
signed. In other words, that rc1 was DOA before getting the required
signatures should in no way imply that we don't want to tag rc1 --
that code *is* rc1, whether or not rc1 is the final release.

We had a discussion about this on irc at the time, and the consensus was
he wasn't supposed to create the tags until he got the appropriate
amount of sigs.
