I am not able to download any file larger than 7885 bytes from the server except if the file is generated by a cgi script. then it can be as large as i want to.
It does not matter if it is binary or text.

The only conclusion i can come to is our installation of debian.. i have run b28 on other distribs like slackware without problems.
