It'd be nice if we could exclude Spring from the Jira extension. But it's currently not really possible because some of the Jira REST client internals depend on the Spring `DisposableBean`.
I opened an issue to see if Spring could be made non-mandatory.
https://ecosystem.atlassian.net/browse/JRJC-258
If that turns out not to be possible, then we could consider implementing a custom `JiraRestClientFactory` & `JiraRestClient` based on Vert.x without the requirement of any Spring bits.

Given there's been no movement on fixing `JRJC-258`, one possible solution to this, would be to have some build time magic that would result in not requiring Spring.
Either:
Generate the `DisposableBean` interface (it only has one method)
Or
Modify `ApacheAsyncHttpClient` to implement interface `com.atlassian.jira.rest.client.internal.async.DisposableHttpClient` instead of `DisposableBean`. They both have identical `destroy` method signatures.
