authentication problem

Hi ,
I have installed server and client.
I typed http://localhost:8080/index.jsp
Home page is dispalyed.Then, I clicked on TC Manager link , it opened a
window screen for user name and password.
Then i entered the root as user name and password as password.But the
authentication failed with the following error
Apache Tomcat/4.0.1 - HTTP Status 401 - Unauthorized

type Status report
message Unauthorized
description This request requires HTTP authentication (Unauthorized).

Can any one provide the details how to use the client commands for
accessing the webdav resources.
