    Hi, I'd like to pick up this issue since it seems inactive.
    I noticed @paultanay 's commit from January which addressed part of the checkstyle violations in quickstart/. I plan to continue from there and extend the cleanup to the remaining submodules under example/ (simple, order, batch, etc.), replacing deprecated API usage where applicable.
    One question before I start: for the deprecated APIs that don't yet have a replacement (e.g., some old client APIs may not have direct new-API equivalents), should I keep them as-is with a @SuppressWarnings justification comment, or is there a preference for how to handle.
