[Bug 4253] New: "spamassassin --help" no longer prints a usage message

http://bugzilla.spamassassin.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4253

           Summary: "spamassassin --help" no longer prints a usage message
           Product: Spamassassin
           Version: SVN Trunk (Latest Devel Version)
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: other
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P5
         Component: spamassassin
        AssignedTo: dev@spamassassin.apache.org
        ReportedBy: jm@jmason.org

: jm 16...; spamassassin --help
SpamAssassin version 3.1.0-r158541
  running on Perl version 5.8.4

For more information read the spamassassin man page.

Usage:
    For backwards compatibility, running "spamassassin" calls the
    "spamassassin" program. You should be able to view the "spamassassin"
    documentation with your man(1) program or perldoc(1).

Usage:
    For ease of access, the SpamAssassin manual has been split up into
    several sections:

        spamassassin              SpamAssassin overview (this section)
        Mail::SpamAssassin::Conf  SpamAssassin configuration files
        spamassassin-run          "spamassassin" front-end filtering script
        sa-learn                  train SpamAssassin's Bayesian classifier
        spamc client for spamd (faster than spamassassin)
        spamd spamassassin server (needed by spamc)

    (If you're intending to read these straight through for the first time,
    the suggested order will tend to reduce the number of forward
    references.)

    Extensive additional documentation for SpamAssassin is available,
    primarily on the SpamAssassin web site and wiki.

    You should be able to view SpamAssassin's documentation with your man(1)
    program or perldoc(1).

(what this should be doing is outputting the options documentation. not
sure how to do that offhand now that that's in spamassassin-run.pod...)

hmm; moving "spamassassin-run.pod" into Mail has caused a regression: "man
spamassassin-run" still works, as before, so that's good, but "perldoc
spamassassin-run" gives a "no documentation found" error.

'perldoc Mail::spamassassin-run' works, but that makes no sense for a user.

I think it should just s/\/Mail// so spamassassin-run.pod is in /usr/share/perl5
directly, as with lwptut.pod, lwpcook.pod et al.

------- Additional Comments From henry@stern.ca  2005-04-10 03:58 -------
 * spamassassin.raw
 * MANIFEST
 * Makefile.PL
 + lib/Mail/spamassassin-run.pod
 - spamassassin-run.pod

Added -input and -pathlist flags to pod2usage to instruct it to use
Mail/spamassassin-run.pod instead of $0 and to search for spamassassin-run.pod
in @INC. In the SpamAssassin source tree, spamassassin-run.pod had to be moved
to lib/Mail so that spamassassin.raw --help works when run from the source
tree and does not use a system-installed version of spamassassin-run.pod.

Made all necessary changes to MANIFEST and Makefile.PL.

Committed revision 160766.

moving to 3.1.0 -- IMO this is a reasonably serious usability issue
