Summary: httpd: could not open document config file
           Product: Apache httpd-2.0
           Version: 2.0.54
          Platform: DEC
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: critical
          Priority: P2
         Component: Build
        AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
        ReportedBy: wlgivens@gmail.com

After compiling Apache I receive the following error upon startup:

httpd: could not open document config file /etc/apache/httpd.conf

I checked the error_log/access_log files, nothing. Went ahead and checked
syslog, also nothing. Then I decided to run gdb and received the same thing,
nothing.

Out of desparation, believing it may have been something wrong with the rolled
binaries, I reinstalled HTTP-2.0.53 [home rolled rpm] and upon running 'service
apache start' recieved the exact same answer... any idea's as to whats going
on? TIA
