Guacamole RDP Drive on 1.0.0 and Windows Servers/Workstations

I migrated my entire guacamole server, including it's database, to a fresh
new CentOS 7 installation from version 0.9.18. I upgraded the database
schema and tested & validated all configurations from the database all
worked as they originally did. All connections have no issues except for
the RDP drive for connections to Windows based Servers/Workstations.
Windows Servers are a mix of 2012 R2 and 2016 while the Windows Workstation
is 10 build 1803.

What happens now is it seems like it creates the RDP drive at
/home/GUAC_USERNAME as specified in the share drive parameters but it just
isn't visible within the guest operating system of my Windows boxes. Files
can be uploaded via the Guacamole sessions utilizing the shortcuts and I
can verify via SSH that the files are created successfully on the guacamole
server itself. There are no errors regarding the guacd process and it's
inability to create the RDP share drive or anything.

If there is any other information I can provide please let me know and I'll
get back to you as soon as I can.

Here is more concrete information and logs from both versions 0.9.14 vs
1.0.0. I still have the old server and was able to test just now. The old
server has no problem and the RDP share drive shows up fine within the
guest operating systems.

Re: Guacamole RDP Drive on 1.0.0 and Windows Servers/Workstations

Posted by "Chambers, John" <jo...@rebadged.net>.
Yes. The connections and user accounts are exactly the same for both cases.
The only difference is the messages from /var/log/messages for the guacd
process are just slightly different.

I've made several test accounts and tried those as well but the results are
the same. On 0.9.14 guacamole server the RDP drive folder gets created on
the gacamole server itself and is presented to the user in the Windows
Server/Workstations successfully. On the 1.0.0 guacamole server the RDP
drive folder gets created on the server itself but just isn't displayed
within the connected Windows Server/Workstation.

I've powered off the 1.0.0 server and have reverted back to using the
0.9.14 one for now. I noticed other java related errors on the 1.0.0 one
when a second user logs in and attempts to utilize a terminal server
connection which I have licensed for 50 users.

Ok, I might have been wrong on the previous version, it was the latest one
before the recent 1.0.0 release.

And for the migration, the server was built from scratch and compiled from
source. The only thing copied over were the mariadb database files and
guacamole configuration file that had the database and ldap configuration.

As far as log messages from guacd the only thing I can see after
establishing a connection is some statement about some capabilities being
ignored.

I’ll get you the exact details for these questions and any others in about
an hour or so, not at my desk at the moment to readily pull the data.

There is no version 0.9.18. What version of Guacamole did you migrate from?

When you say you migrated to a new CentOS 7 installation, does this
mean you built guacamole-server from source on the new CentOS 7 server
or that you manually copied things over from the old system?

What log messages are there from the guacd process (regardless of
