             Summary: ex msg for cql3 order by constraints says primary filter can be an IN clause which is misleading
                 Key: CASSANDRA-4319
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CASSANDRA-4319
             Project: Cassandra
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: Core
    Affects Versions: 1.2
            Reporter: Dave Brosius
            Priority: Trivial
             Fix For: 1.2
         Attachments: better_order_restriction_error_msg.txt

select * from visitor_audit where visitor_id in ('1_172892701', '1_316755431') order by audit_id desc limit 6;

gives error

Bad Request: Ordering is only supported is the first part of the PRIMARY KEY is restricted by an Equal or a IN

which seems to be what the query is doing.

Sylvain Lebresne commented on CASSANDRA-4319:
---------------------------------------------

Yeah, IN was disallowed "recently" but I forgot to update the error message.
+1 (I believe this affect 1.1 too though).
