Please provide EOL & EOVS dates of Flex SDK 4.6

Hello Flex Users/Development Team,
I understand from Jessy that Apache has taken over the Flex SDK product. Can you please help me to get end of life (EOL) and end of vendor support (EOVS) dates of Flex SDK 4.6 since I don't see these dates of this version (4.6) in any of the adobe sites. I am able to find this information only for 3.0 & 2.0 versions in one of the adobe sites http://www.adobe.com/support/products/enterprise/eol/eol_matrix.html#61.

Thanks in advance.

Mallaiah,

Adobe announced the end-of-support for Adobe Flex 4.6 for all customers
except for those that were under an existing support contract. They also
announced that Adobe Flex 4.6 was the last version that Adobe was
publishing (they reserved the right to publish subsequent versions as
bug-fixes, but they haven't exercised that option to date). I don't
believe they are entering into new support contracts for customers for that
product, but you may want to talk to your Adobe sales rep for more details
for that. General support was moved to Apache as a community-driven,
open-source project well over two years ago. In that time the Apache Flex
team has released 4 new version of the SDK, with a new version preparing
for release in the coming weeks. These releases are generally
backwards-compatible with the older Adobe releases while adding new
features and bug-fixes (Apache Flex release 4.8 was nearly identical with
the only major change being the license model).

If you have any bugs you need fixing, please report them to our community's
bug tracker (JIRA). We also encourage you to talk about bugs that you
report on our mailing lists so that we can get a better perspective on what
is going on. The Apache Flex team is volunteer driven (although there are
some committers on the project that work for large companies such as
Adobe). Our community is very strong at the moment, and we've been able to
close > 800 bugs since the SDK has been turned over to Apache from Adobe.

Hope that answers your questions.

Hi,

I would like to add, that Apache is a volunteer organization and a very
active one. However, the more folks that participate make the process and
products better.

The Apache Flex team is on course for moving to new releases of Flex at
fairly frequent intervals. Many bug fixes happen in a week (someone
probably has numbers to confirm that). If possible, try to move your
project to the latest version of Apache Flex and you'll pick up a huge
number of bug fixes. Older versions of Flex will likely not get as much
support, if any, but if you are tied to a particular version for any
length of time, you could become a member of the Apache Flex team and help
out.

Hi,

I think EOVS was the moment they donated to Apache.

As to EOL: Apache Flex 4.8 is a parity release of Adobe Flex 4.6 (i.e. the
same code, new owner) and since the source of 4.8 will remain available as
long as the Apache organisation exists, I think you can safely say that it
has a long life ahead of it.
