[jira] [Created] (KAFKA-8787) Report ValidationException when topology has state stores with no processors associated

Jacek Laskowski created KAFKA-8787:
--------------------------------------

Summary: Report ValidationException when topology has state stores with no processors associated
                 Key: KAFKA-8787
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-8787
             Project: Kafka
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: streams
    Affects Versions: 2.3.0
            Reporter: Jacek Laskowski

It is possible to build and run a topology with a single state store only (and no processors). It should not actually be possible as it does make no sense (and could be confusing).

It is similar to registering a state store no processor uses.

It'd be nice to it have an "analysis/validation error" if a topology has a state store with no processor attached.
