WRT directory names for patches...

The convention in the past has been that the directory name
is an indicator of the source version that the patches are 
made against. 1.1b0 simply shows that it is the first branch
from 1.0.0.

Maybe CVS will make all of this stiinking voting stuff go away?
(or at least become much less frequent...)
