Was able to give 'test' as the email address and was prompted with message:
Confirmation email has been sent to eroma.abey@yahoo.com. Please click on the confirmation link in the email once you receive it.

Correct email format should be checked when user enters the email address.
If the email is in correct format but delivery failed, user should be notified as well
