cactus crashes was6.0 vm in rational

I wrote a couple of test cases (servlet based) for testing my install of
cactus -- when the cactus servlet runner is executed, the Java VM crashes.
Has anybody else experienced this problem?

environment:
was6.0 test environment
rational software developer
windows xp sp2
