[jira] [Created] (IMPALA-15487) Original planner: Prevent zero-precision DECIMAL truncation
Aleksandr Efimov created IMPALA-15487:
-----------------------------------------
Summary: Original planner: Prevent zero-precision DECIMAL truncation
Key: IMPALA-15487
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/IMPALA-15487
Project: IMPALA
Issue Type: Bug
Reporter: Aleksandr Efimov
Assignee: Aleksandr Efimov
TRUNC(CAST(0.1 AS DECIMAL(1,1))) infers DECIMAL(0,0) in the Original planner and reaches a native precision assertion. TRUNCATE and DTRUNC are also affected with omitted, zero or negative scale, in DECIMAL V1 and V2. Use DECIMAL(1,0) when truncation removes all digits. A local frontend fix passes focused tests and 176 HS2 checks with codegen off/on. Separate from the Calcite return-type fix in IMPALA-15486.
