[jira] [Created] (KAFKA-20978) Add test case for consumer protocol to `benchmark_test.py`

Chia-Ping Tsai created KAFKA-20978:
--------------------------------------

Summary: Add test case for consumer protocol to `benchmark_test.py`
                 Key: KAFKA-20978
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-20978
             Project: Kafka
          Issue Type: Bug
            Reporter: Chia-Ping Tsai
            Assignee: Chia-Ping Tsai

The `benchmark_test.py` does not touch `group.protocol`, which means all tests in `benchmark_test.py` are running with the classic consumer.

At the very least, we could let `test_end_to_end_latency` and `test_consumer_throughput` have a nice day with the async consumer :)
