[VOTE] Beta release of POI 3.0.2

Hi All,

A good number of bugs has been fixed and quite a few of new functionality has been added since our last release.
So, I think it is reasonable to release POI 3.0.2 in late December or early January.

What do people think about doing a beta release? Does anyone have any pending patches we should wait for?

As release manager, I produced a development release.
It is available to download from:
 http://people.apache.org/~yegor/POI-3.0.2-ALPHA1/
and corresponds to svn TRUNK as of today (November 27 2007). This build is intended for evaluation purposes,
the actual -beta builds will be produced depending on this vote results.

Please vote and say your opinions. The vote options are:

[ ]+1 - I support the beta release
[ ] 0 - I don't care
[ ]-1 - I don't think we should do a beta release now. Please explain.

I'm voting [+1]. Voting will last for 1 week.

Regards,
Yegor

These artificats look good to me. I'm +1 to releasing these artifacts as
3.0.2 beta 1

Thanks for the critics. I updated the build as suggested.
It still resides in http://people.apache.org/~yegor/POI-3.0.2-ALPHA1/
but all the filenames have the correct version ID and date. There are two
sub-directories:

http://people.apache.org/~yegor/POI-3.0.2-ALPHA1/main Normal build of POI
http://people.apache.org/~yegor/POI-3.0.2-ALPHA1/maven Maven artifacts and poms

The build was produced from the REL_3_0_2_BETA1 tag which was copied
from TRUNK r598986.

I'm +1 on the idea of the release, but -1 on the actual build artifacts:

* filenames (and embeded directory names) are wrong. You need to do the
build as if the vote had passed, so the date need to be overridden, as
    does the version ID.
filenames ought to be something like poi-src-3.0.2-beta1-20071204.zip
* the pom files (needed by maven) are missing
* most of the real files can't be downloaded (wrong file permissions), so
    I can't check their contents
