Moving Open Metadata & Governance code to ODPi

Atlas team,

Over the last year, Apache Atlas community has been incubating a new capability called open metadata and governance, to enable exchange of metadata from different vendor tools. ODPi initiative (https://www.odpi.org) is focused on vendor-neutral data governance, and seems to be a better place for this capability. Apache Atlas PMC and committers propose that the sources added in Atlas for open metadata and governance (see JIRA list below) be moved to ODPi project Egeria (https://odpi.github.io/egeria/).

Apache Atlas will continue to be focused on being a first class metadata and governance system for Hadoop and other enterprise data ecosystem. In addition, Apache Atlas will be a reference implementation for Open Metadata & Governance specifications in ODPi.

Here is the list of Apache Atlas JIRAs for Open Metadata modules:
ATLAS-1095: final code drop for OCF
ATLAS-1775: Enterprise OMRS Connector Initial Impl 2
ATLAS-2122: OMAG Server Application and OMRS APIs
ATLAS-2246: OMRS Connector API plus REST and IGC Connector skeleton - 15th February 2018
ATLAS-2585: Fix up validation of TypDef GUIDs
ATLAS-2604: Minor fixups to open metadata archive types
ATLAS-2668: Add OMAG server to distribution

Please note that the proposed move will not have any impact on released Apache Atlas versions, as these modules haven't been part of any release.

Thanks,

Madhan
