Karl Richter created NETBEANS-300:
-------------------------------------
Summary: Allow selection of remote repositories to download indices for
Key: NETBEANS-300
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NETBEANS-300
Project: NetBeans
Issue Type: Improvement
Components: projects - Maven
Affects Versions: 9.0
Reporter: Karl Richter
Indices of Maven remote repositories have very different size both in compressed and uncompressed state, e.g. sonatype-staging requires up to 20 GB on the local filesystem after being extracted by Netbeans. If one doesn't have this amount of space available (temporarily), one has to deactivate all indices in order to avoid coming back from a coffee break and seeing the filesystem being full (since btrfs after 10 years still is so unstable that it can break in such a situation, that's dangerous and disabling necessary even if more space is available).
This could be less troublesome if one could select remote repositories from which the indices ought to be downloaded.
One can already work around this problem, but disabling indexing and updating the indices manually, but it'd still be nice to have the possibility of an automated selective configuration.
