using a component without going through the sitemap
am using an xsl very similar to apache.xsl
this means that i have a menu on the left portion of the screen and a
content viewing area on the right.
the xsl has been additionally adapted to utilize xml from several sources.
of the several xml sources, one has an HTML textarea to be populated with
the contents of a directory.
would like to use the component, DirectoryGenerator, to populate the
textarea after allowing the xsl to 'dress up' the results of the
DirectoryGenerator.
question1: where can i read to learn about setting up, utilizing, and
tearing down a component in the cocoon environment?
question2: is there a better approach than that which i am taking?
note: i have a whole bunch - maybe 20 to 30 menu links that use a single
pipeline match (in the same manner as the tutorial) and the same xsl for
style. only one link of the bunch needs the extra function to be had from
the DirectoryGenerator.
question3: should i not be thinkng about initializing a component from the
specific xml, but rather use the sitemap to get the one xml file populated
with the correct information? if the sitemap is the more correct method,
how would i set forth to accomplish the multiple generator calls for the
various xml needs?
thanx
Ray
