maybe a problem

I just found the server at cardiff running poorly.. hit rates
per hour had been dropping throughout the day, whereas they ought
to be climbing.  (see http://arachnid.cm.cf.ac.uk/htbin/Graphs/todays_stats)

A "top" revealed that only 'MinSpareServers' were running.
A SIGHUP (~17:00 local time) cured the problem 
i.e.   >>MinSpareServers are now running.

The only difference I can think of that might influence this is that
I added 

MaxClients 50

to the config file yesterday.

If I notice the problem again, I'll pump up MaxClients to see if the
problem goes away.
