[jira] [Commented] (YUNIKORN-3344) Remove deprecated user label references from site documentation
[ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/YUNIKORN-3344?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=18124882#comment-18124882 ]
KAI-JAY TU commented on YUNIKORN-3344:
--------------------------------------
While working on this issue I found two scope questions that are not covered by the description, since the description was written before 1.10.0 was released:
h2. 1. versioned_docs/version-1.10.0
YUNIKORN-3311 (fix version 1.10.0) removed the user label fallback code, so the 1.10.0 release shipped without it. However {{versioned_docs/version-1.10.0/user_guide/usergroup_resolution.md}} still contains the "Deprecated user handling" section (which says the code "will be removed in YuniKorn 1.10") and the bypassAuth paragraph referencing the deprecated label. This is factually wrong for 1.10.0.
The description only excludes versioned docs for "1.9.0 and earlier". Should the 1.10.0 versioned docs be fixed in this change as well? My suggestion is yes, since 1.10.0 is the current release users see on the website.
h2. 2. docs/design/user_group_handling.md
The design doc from YUNIKORN-2634 mentions the {{yunikorn.apache.org/username}} label in three places (current-state description, POC reference, and the BYPASS_AUTH paragraph). Design docs are usually kept as historical records, so my suggestion is to leave it untouched, but please let me know if it should be updated too.

> Now that YUNIKORN-3311 has removed the user label processing code from k8shim, the site documentation needs to be updated to reflect this change.
> As noted by chenyulin0719 and manirajv06 in [https://github.com/apache/yunikorn-k8shim/pull/1059,] all deprecated label references in the site docs should be cleaned up.
> Changes needed in docs/user_guide/usergroup_resolution.md:
> - Remove the "Deprecated user handling" section (which says the label code "will be removed in YuniKorn 1.10")
> - Rewrite the bypassAuth paragraph to remove references to the deprecated user label
> - Grep for any other references to yunikorn.apache.org/username or "deprecated label" across the docs/ directory
> h2. Versioned docs (1.9.0 and earlier) should not be changed as they accurately reflect the state at those releases.
